I received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Education from the University of Georgia in 1984. After graduation, I obtained a position at Lithia Springs High School as a Marketing Teacher and Coordinator for the work-based learning program.  I started the first school-based enterprise in Douglas County in 1985.  In 1989, I received my Masters in Marketing Education from Georgia State University.    I earned my Specialist Degree in the area of Leadership from the University of West Georgia in 2010.  I fully understand the importance of membership and being active in my professional organizations, so I joined the following professional organizations as a first year teacher, and I am still active in these organizations today:  The state and national Associations for Career and Technical Education, Georgia Marketing Education Association, Professional Association of Georgia Educators, Georgia Association of Educators and PTSA.  I served a ten-year term on the GMEA Board as Treasurer, Pres.-Elect, President, and Past President.  During this time, I also served on the GACTE Board as the representative from the Marketing affiliate.  I  served on the State DECA board, serving as Director since 1997.  Over the past several years, I have been active with many businesses as they serve as job placements for my WBL students as well as members of our Business and Marketing Advisory Committees.  I have worked for and shadowed some of the local businesses as a requirement for Industry Certification.  Our Marketing Department gained Industry Certification recognition in 2011 and our Business Departments was recognized in 2012 as an Industry Certified program.

Many of my responsibilities at school allow me the opportunity to get involved with the community.  Over the past thirty -two years, I have sponsored the DECA Club beginning at Lithia Springs High School in 1984 and now at Chapel Hill High School.  I currently serve as the department chairman for the Business and Computer Science department and as the Work-Based Learning Coordinator. My students participate in WBL as a Co-op, YAP or Intern positions. They represent students that leave CHHS and work in our community in various career related jobs.  If you have a Business located in Douglas County contact me for information reguarding our Work-Based Learning program.
