It was a great day at the Track for the Chapel Hill Panthers this past weekend at Berry College. The Lady Panthers defended their state title and now are back to back 4-A State Champions. The Boys team placed 3rd at State as well as a team.

Girls Results from the AAAA State Meet in Rome, GA

In the Field Events…

Junior, Isis Taylor placed 5th with a personal record throw of 38 feet in the Shot Put

Junior, Jailyn Kendrick placed 7th with a throw of 35 feet and 7 inches

Freshman, Kassidy Amerson-Fox placed 2nd in the Discus with a personal record throw of 124 feet and 2 inches. This mark is a Top 100 mark in the class of 2021 and ranks her 25th in the country in the freshman class.

Junior, Ivory Jones placed 4th in the Discus with a personal record throw of 121 feet and 2 inches.

Senior, Kayla Alexander, placed 2nd in the Long Jump with a jump of 18 feet and 6 inches. Kayla set her personal record 2 weeks ago with a Jump of 19 feet and 4 inches which is a USA top 100 mark and ranks her #47 in the country.

Senior, Meghan Daniels, placed 4th in the Triple Jump with a jump of 37 feet and 5 inches.

In the Running Events….

The Girls 4x100 meter relay completed a 3 Peat as they have been State Champions in 2016 in 5A, 2017 in 4A, and 2018 in 4A. This year’s team: Sophomore, Joy Scott, Kayla Alexander, freshman, Derica Price, and Junior Ilene Soleyn are State Champions with a time of 47.09 second which is a USA top 100 time and ranks them #73 in the Country.

Ilene Soleyn placed 3rd in the 400 meter dash with a personal record time of 56.82.

Ilene Soleyn placed 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:21.

Kayla Alexander finished as the State Champion in the 100 Meter Hurdles with a time of 13.94 seconds. She broke Olympian Kristi Castlin record earlier this season in March with a personal record time of 13.69 seconds which is a USA top 100 time and ranks her #10 in the country.

Joy Scott placed 6th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.71 seconds.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Meghan Daniels, Sophomore Kimora Cook, Junior Zaria White, and Ilene Soleyn finished 2nd with a time of 3:57.63


The Lady Panthers finished with 72.50 points and completed the meet with a 20 point advantage over runner-up Woodward Academy. The team was led by Kayla Alexander and Ilene Soleyn who both accumulated 28 points each in their events.

In the Field Events…

Senior, Jermaine Anderson placed 2nd in the Shot Put with a throw of 57 Feet. Jermaine also finished 3rd in the Discus with a throw of 167 feet and 7 inches.

 Junior, Freddie Allen III placed 3rd in the Long Jump with a jump of 23 feet 1 inch. Earlier in the Season, Freddie Jumped a personal record of 23 feet 8 inches which is USA Top 100 Jump. That mark ranks him #13 in the country.

In the Running Events….

The Boys 4x100 meter finished as State Champions with a time of 41.74 seconds. This year’s team: Freddie Allen III, Freshman Keyshawn Buckley, Senior Michael Daniels, and Senior Tyre Shelton.  

Sophmore, Shawn Langley, finished in 5th place in the 400 meter dash with a personal record time of 49.09 seconds and also set a new school record.

Michael Daniels placed 7th in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 49.31 seconds.

Tyre Shelton Finished as the State Champion in the 100 Meter Dash with a school record time of 10.66 seconds. Tyre broke his own school record

Freddie Allen III finished 4th place in the 110 Hurdles with a time of 14.82 seconds

The Boys 4x400 Meter Relay Team of Shawn Langley, Junior Jayden Braxton, Junior Prince Williams, and Michael Daniels placed 4th with a time of 3:22
