Rigorous Coursework Benefits Students Applying to College

The University of Georgia released information in The Atlanta Journal Constitution on March 31, 2012 regarding admissions for next year. Nearly 19,000 students applied for 5,100 slots for fall semester. Of those admitted, the class earned an average 3.87 GPA and scored about 29 on the ACT and 1310 on the math and verbal of the SAT. The class also took an average of six (6) college level classes during their four years of high school. Associate Vice President of Admissions Nancy McDuff is quoted as saying, "Students need to take hard classes and do well in them." This information is just another example of how successful performance in rigorous coursework will benefit students as they apply to college.
